Executive summary

  • In August, Central African countries focused on expanding bilateral agreements with regional and emerging markets in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, a trend that is expected to continue as nations seek to diversify export earnings and secure mineral resources. For instance, Angola and Vietnam signed agreements to deepen cooperation in justice, agriculture, defense, and energy. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Brazil also signed a series of agreements covering sectors such as agriculture, the environment, and health. Additionally, Cameroon began the tenth phase of tariff reductions under its Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union and the United Kingdom, cutting customs duties on key products like vehicles and cement by 60%.
