MSME and personal banking remain central to the global financial system, enabling individuals and small businesses to access savings, payments, and credit. According to the World Bank’s Global Findex (2025), roughly four out of five adults now have a formal financial account (bank or mobile money), up from 74% in 2021. Despite this progress, 1.3 billion adults remain unbanked, many of whom already own mobile phones, indicating a persistent opportunity to expand financial inclusion and enlarge the personal banking lending sphere. 

The MSME financing gap remains very large, estimated at $5.7 billion across emerging and developing economies, with nearly 40% of formal MSMEs' credit constrained. Together, these gaps in both MSME and personal banking highlight the pressing need to scale up inclusive financial services as part of global economic growth and opportunity.
