After the highs, come the lows. I don't know about you, but I am relieved that the Nigerian elections are over. Given the bitter and often shameful way the last set of elections to elect governors and state house of assembly members went, I certainly don’t want any more elections.
It will take some time for the dust to settle on the elections, and as such, no deep appraisal of the current cycle can be reasonably produced yet. But some developments and patterns can be discussed now. These are things we can observe from the results and the general process of getting to those results, including the way voters and politicians conducted themselves.
