Financial Services Transaction Brief: Francophone West Africa super app Gozem closes $30m Series B

Transaction Summary

In February 2025, Francophone West African super app company Gozem Pte Ltd (Gozem) raised $30 million in a Series B funding round, evenly split between equity and debt financing. Founded in Togo in 2018 as a motorcycle-taxi platform, Gozem has since grown into the largest super app in Francophone West Africa, offering mobility, e-commerce, vehicle financing, and digital financial services. The round was co-led by SAS Shipping Agencies Services Sàrl, a subsidiary of global logistics giant MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company), and Al Mada Ventures (Al Mada), a pan-African venture capital fund backed exclusively by African capital. The investment will support Gozem’s expansion in vehicle financing and financial services—the latter has become a key focus following the company’s 2023 acquisition of Moneex, a Beninese e-payments startup that laid the foundation for its fintech ambitions.
