Alterra Capital Partners (Alterra) acquired a majority stake in ARP Africa Travel Ltd. (ARP) for an undisclosed sum. Established in 1991 and formerly known as Alpha Travel (UK) Limited until its rebranding in 2020, ARP is a leading luxury and experiential travel service provider across East Africa. The company operates a fleet of over 300 vehicles with approximately 200 guides, offering services in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe through various partnerships. Alterra purchased the stake from the founding Moledina family, who will continue to run the business, with Taqi Moledina, CEO since 2009, remaining as chief executive officer and assuming the role of chairman post-transaction. Under Alterra’s leadership, the company plans to expand its source markets to the Nordic countries, Asia, and the Middle East over the next 12 to 18 months.
