Agriculture Transaction Brief: Acumen backs Ghanaian agri-tech platform Wami Agro with $2m

Transaction Summary

Through its Trellis Initiative, Acumen Fund, Inc. (Acumen) has committed $2 million to Wami Agro Limited (Wami Agro), a Ghanaian agritech company that supports smallholder farmers with market access, climate protection, and credit services. Wami Agro will use the investment to scale its operations into neighbouring Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso and to roll out its proprietary digital farm management platform, Pukpara. Wami Agro has built a network of over 14,000 smallholder farmers across six Ghanaian regions and aims to support more than 100,000 farmers across West Africa. Trellis invests in scalable agribusinesses that create meaningful improvements for smallholder farmers through market access and climate adaptation. By partnering with Wami Agro, Trellis seeks to catalyse the company’s integrated model, which combines fair trade pricing, data-driven agronomy, and accessible credit. This targeted support helps farmers mitigate climate risks, stabilise supply chains, and ultimately drive sustainable growth in West Africa’s food systems.
