Africa’s private equity playbook is shifting towards venture

Not long ago, it was rare for TV stars to crossover into leading roles in Hollywood movies. The divide was partly economic, as TV paid less and carried lower status, and partly because each medium operated in separate ecosystems with distinct cycles, channels, and audiences.

The barrier has thinned in the last decade as TV stars like Zendaya (from Disney Channel and Euphoria to Dune) and Pedro Pascal (from Game of Thrones and Narcos to Wonder Woman 1984 and The Fantastic Four) seamlessly transition between screens. The rise of streaming platforms, the prestige TV boom, and evolving audience habits have all contributed to this shift, providing actors with a broader reach and more fluid career paths. The end result is that the line between TV star and movie star has never been blurrier.
